How to check a California ABC license at the source

California ABC, not Millatu, operates the official license lookup. Use the steps below to choose the lookup path that fits the information you already have.

Your search is performed on California ABC's website; Millatu does not collect or receive your lookup terms. The reviewed date means Millatu checked this guide text and its destination links on that date; it is not an ABC record date.

Choose a lookup path

Send only the information you choose directly to California ABC. Millatu does not provide a search form or proxy.

Hypothetical example: if a document for “Example Café” at “100 Example Street” does not show a license number, start with business name or premises address. These names are illustrative and are not a Millatu record.

For broader browsing by city, ZIP code, county, or license type, use California ABC Licensing Reports. A location report is not a substitute for checking a specific result in License Lookup.

  1. Choose what you know

Use license number when you have the number. Otherwise, the official page offers paths for licensee name, business address, or business name and DBA.

  2. Enter the source information carefully

Use the spelling, number, address, and city shown on the material you are checking. A business name and the name of the person or entity holding a license may differ.

  3. Read the result in its official context

Review the license number, name, address, type, status fields, and dates shown by California ABC. If a code or label is unfamiliar, open the California ABC glossary instead of guessing from the wording.

  4. Check the timing

Compare the date on any Millatu observation with what the official service shows when you visit. A captured value is a dated observation of what the retrieved source material contained, not a statement about what it shows now.

  5. Keep the official page as your decision point

If the information affects an action, rely on the official source and contact California ABC when the source itself needs explanation. Millatu does not settle conflicts or amend an ABC record.

No result or too many results?

No result

Recheck the lookup path, number transcription, spelling, street suffix, city, and whether you used a DBA or legal holder name. Then try one different official lookup path. No result does not prove that no license exists.

Several results

Compare the license number, premises address, license type, holder or DBA, and source dates. Do not choose only by a similar name. Multiple rows or license types do not necessarily indicate an error.

Conflicting or unfamiliar fields

Use the California ABC glossary in the context of the live result, and contact California ABC if the interpretation affects a decision. Millatu does not resolve a conflict or translate a code into a legal, compliance, safety, or business-condition conclusion.

Older document and current lookup differ

Ownership, address, status, or displayed fields may change. If you need an audit trail, record which official page you consulted and when; do not send that information to Millatu.

Other official lookup paths

California ABC also provides location reports by city, ZIP code, county, census tract, and statewide license type.
